What is a hybrid inverter charger?

The range of hybrid inverter chargers in tienda-solar provides options for all possible facilities. The powers range from 800W to the smallest model, up to 16 kW single phase or 24 kW three phase, with the possibility of parallel connection of multiple units.

They are ideal for a complete solar kit, either off-grid or self-consumption systems.

The hybrid inverter chargers incorporate an input to connect directly strings of solarpanels or photovoltaic modules, making the regulation thereof as an independent solar charger.

They can connect to battery systems 12V, 24V or 48V, depending on the model, to provide pure sine wave output 230V, suitable for any conventional electrical device, even the most sensitive.

They also have a input that we can connect an auxiliary generator or the electrical grid itself, allowing charging batteries when needed, in emergencies or when consumption has exceeded planned, causing excessive battery discharge.

For all these features hybrid inverter chargers provide all electronic needs of a solar kit in one device, thus lowering the total cost of installation. It is thus possible to configure a solar kit with three basic elements: one solar kit, a hybrid inverter charger and a set of battery storage, simplifying the system.

More on hybrid solar inverters

Hybrid inverters are perhaps the least common in the industry, but this does not mean that on particular occasions they are the most suitable option. In fact, they are gaining market share as the option of self-consumption with batteries is gaining adherents, since they allow that in the event of a grid supply failure, the user can continue with service thanks to its installation.

This type of inverters are capable of operating connected to the grid, being able to manage the battery charge of the system and in a timely manner that the system works without grid supply exclusively with the use of the energy stored in the batteries or with which it is being used. generating at that time thanks to photovoltaic solar panels.

These inverters are the most versatile and flexible that can be found in the industry. These allow to optimally manage the different energy sources available (solar panels, batteries and the electrical grid). They are optimal for hybrid systems with various consumption loads and vary generation sources, thus allowing intelligent system management (grid / consumption / solar generation and batteries).

The use voltage of this type of inverters usually ranges between 48V and 500V depending on the different components used. This type of inverters can work in different modes depending on each situation:

- Charging mode: when there is no generation of the solar panels and the batteries are completely discharged, the solar inverter will ensure that the electrical grid charges the solar batteries.

- Off-grid mode: The system works as if the grid did not exist. The loads are powered through solar panels and the energy stored in the batteries.

- Self-consumption mode: The solar panels supply electricity to the loads instantaneously and the surplus that could be stored in the batteries if they still had capacity. Otherwise the energy would be poured into the grid.

Hybrid inverters are also sometimes called those inverters that are mounted in off-grid installations that allow the charging of batteries, for example, from an auxiliary generator or the grid. They are, for example, a 12V hybrid inverter or a 24V hybrid inverter. In this case, the fundamental difference is that the latter are not capable of synchronizing with the electricity grid or pouring their energy into it, so they always act in parallel.
