GoodWe is a Chinese manufacturer of solar inverters and energy storage solutions founded in 2010 in Suzhou city. It has more than 1000 employees and despite its relatively recent foundation is one of the top 10 manufacturers of solar inverters in the world competing with big brands such as SMA, Power Electronics, Huawei or SunGrow. To date (2020) Goodwe has sold a total of 12GW of its inverters worldwide.

The GoodWe products have been certified by the prestigious German TUV laboratory and even in 2019 the GoodWe ET & DSS Series solar inverters won the "All Quality Matter Award" given by the same organisation.

GoodWe designs and manufactures string solar inverters with outputs ranging from 0.75kW to 250kW. With these powers the solutions offered by GoodWe can cover the small residential installations (up to 15kW), the medium industrial commercial installations (from 15kW to 100kW) and with their inverters with powers higher than 100kW they offer competitive solutions to the bigger industrial plants but also to the big photovoltaic plants (higher than 10MW).

For residential and commercial applications, GoodWe's most notable lines are the XS, NS and DNS series of single-phase solar inverters and the SDT series for three-phase solar installations. The single-phase GoodWe XS and NS lines have one MPPT (maximum power point tracking), the single-phase Goodwe DNS line has two MPPT. The three-phase line (GoodWe SDT) also has two MPPTs of maximum power.

Remember that the number of MPPTs allows us to mount panels with different orientations or inclinations in each branch, without this affecting the overall performance, each tracker providing the maximum power available at all times of the photovoltaic field connected to it.

Within Goodwe's single-phase solar inverters, the XS series is specially designed for residential solar installations and stands out for its reduced size (the same as a sheet of paper), its low weight (5.2kg) and its silent operation. This small solar inverter (between 0.7kW to 3kW) can be connected to up to 30% more power from solar panels, thus optimizing its nominal AC power and achieving efficiencies of up to 97%. With a LAN or Wifi connection, the output of this solar inverter can be monitored from anywhere at any time. S

The NS Series also designed for small single-phase residential and commercial solar installations goes a bit further than its XS alternative. The NS series of solar inverters (with outputs between 1 and 3 kW) allows the start-up of the solar energy system for self-consumption at lower voltages and offers a slightly higher nominal output. These two characteristics make it especially interesting in locations with low radiation and with an extra need to over-dimension the self-consumption solar installation with more solar panels. The NS series has monitoring with LAN cable (RS-485) or via Wifi.

The DNS series also allows connection to single-phase systems and is a series with higher power inverters, between 3 and 6 kW. In this case, the main feature of Goodwe DNS inverters is that they allow connection to their two MPPT trackers, with a range wide enough to allow configuration on almost any small or medium residential roof.

The GoodWe SDT three-phase series is a great proposition at a very competitive price. With powers ranging from 4kW to 10kW these inverters with 2 MPPT's make them very dynamic, efficient and flexible to any design of solar installation for self-consumption. One of the great advantages of having 2 MPPT's is the possibility of mounting solar panels on different roofs with different orientations without losing the efficiency of the inverter. These solar inverters are light, small and can be installed indoors and outdoors, always maintaining their maximum efficiency of 98.6%. Without a doubt a great option available with a perhaps not very well known brand.
